Theories of Mass Production & Automation

Reading Time: < 1 minute

There have been many theories, models and practices regarding mass production techniques, as well as automation, which have been put to use since industrialization of many countries and changed how we live tremendously. Many people now rely on these systems to a point where the US Department of Defense conducted a simulation in which an EMP was detonated above the US and knocked out the entire power grid, after which it was projected that 90 percent of the population would die within 1 year. That is a heavy level of reliance on electricity, supply and logistics chains, industry and modern technology that we take for granted. Most people do not know basic survival skills, or even how to grow crops.

Mass production in factories is increasingly becoming automated, and robots are replacing human workers, and have resulted in increased levels of efficiency, accuracy, speed and quality of products made. The big question is in the 21st century, assuming two countries go to war with a large population capable of working, and a large industrial capacity, if one country automates the process while the other has to use human workers, that will mean the available people to funnel into various other fields except factory work will be low in comparison, giving the country that is ahead in industrial automation a huge advantage in the long run.
